Competition Rules

(Revised February 2026)


1.The Competitions will be organised by the Competition Secretary and played

over the Bowling Season. The Competition Secretary will supervise the

competitions.


2.The Competitions will be open only to bowers who are members of an affiliated

Salisbury and District Bowling Association affiliated club. Players must be

members of the club they have entered from.


3.The Competitions will be played under the Rules laid down by World Bowls Laws

of the Sport of Bowls Crystal Mark Fourth Edition (or any subsequent version).


4.The Formats of each Competition are as follows:-

a.b.c.Singles – Played to 21 Shots, Four bowls per player

Pairs – Played over 21 Ends, Four bowls per player

Triples – Played over 18 Ends, Three bowls per player


5.One Substitute will be allowed (Pairs or Triples). The Substitute most not have

already played in the competition.


6.A Draw will be made by the Competition Secretary and the draw distributed to

Players and Club Representatives.


7.The player appearing first in the draw is the challenger and will offer his opponent

3 dates to play the fixture. At least one must be a weekend date, and not all in

one week. The start time offered, unless mutually agreed, must be either

a.b.Weekdays – No earlier than 6pm or later than 6.30pm

Weekends – No earlier than 9.30am or later than 6.30pm


8.Failure to offer 3 dates or failure to accept one of the dates will lead to

disqualification. Whilst not binding, it is recommended that the timelines in Bowls England

Regulation 52.5 is used for offering/accepting dates


9.Each round must be played by the round end date. An extension may be granted

in extreme circumstances by the Competition Secretary. If the match has not

been played by the round end date (or agreed extension where granted), either

one or both of the players/teams will be eliminated from the competition


10.Players will adhere to the following dress code during all roundsa.White Shirt and Grey Trousers/Shorts (White Trousers/Shorts in the Final)

OR

b.Approved Club Uniform

c.In Pairs / Triples, all players in a team should dress the same


11.It will be the responsibility of the round winer to notify the competition secretary

of the result no later than 24 hours after the round end date.


12.The Finals will be played on the Salisbury and District Bowling Association

President’s Home Green


13.Trophies will be presented at the Salsibury and District Bowling Association

Annual General Meeting


14.Trophies won in the previous year must be returned to the Competition Secretary

by 31stAugust


DISPUTES

Any disputes must be raised with the Competitions Secretary. The decision of the

Competitions Secretary will be final.


The Competition secretary reserves the right to refer the dispute to an Emergency

Committee of the Executive Members of the Salisbury and District Bowling Association.


Where this happens, the decision of this Emergency Committee will be final.
